Girl on a Rope Swing

Original Oil Paintings and Giclee prints

For Jodi Callahan, becoming an artist was never a question and always her dream. Coming from a family of artists, she loved to draw and graduated a senior art major from Winchester High School in 1982. Jodi went on to study art at Boston's New England School of Art and Design, graduating in 1985. Having majored in Advertising and Graphic arts, Jodi worked as a graphic designer for eleven years. In 1996, after working for eight years in the art department of a leading travel agency, Jodi decided to leave the field to raise her family.

In February of 2003, when her children were just six and four, Jodi was diagnosed with an invasive form of breast cancer. After having enduring the effects of chemotherapy and multiple surgeries, Jodi is happy to say she has been cancer free for five years and can now proudly call herself a survivor. Her experience with cancer, though trying at times, was also an awakening. She discovered a realization as to what's truly important and a new appreciation for the beauty of life that surrounds her.

Jodi knew she needed to capture this beauty and express herself the way she always had. She needed to return to her art. However, for the first time ever she felt a strong desire to paint! Choosing oils, she has happened upon a medium that she loves like no other before. Painting to classical music, she gets lost in her work, experiencing a sense of peace and truly living her dream.
